Original Antique Johns Hopkins University Teaching Hospital Baltimore Reverse Painting

Ten minutes to seven on the tower clock at Gilman Hall in this rare, antique painting of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore Maryland. Built in 1915, Gilman Hall is the intellectual and philosophical heart of Johns Hopkins University. I would venture to guess that the painting was executed at the time of the hall's opening. There was some difficulty in taking good photos, as the glass is behind glass (from the frame) and glare was an issue. Frame is not original to the work. Painting measures 12" X 7" without the frame and 14 3/4" X 9 3/4" with it. Condition of the actual painting is excellent, with no obvious wear or damage, and the colors are vivid. I am not an expert on painting on glass, but I have seen many forms of it with varying degrees of damage and this is ond of the most complete and intact, ever. It is not in its original frame and the paper on the back of this frame is torn, revealing that at some point, someone glued the cardboard backing to the glass. The glue does not contact or impact the front of the painting and it is an optional (and seemingly easy) restoration job to have it removed. In fact, I would be happy to get a quote for you from our local frame shop, that does an excellent job and is very reasonably priced. Please convo with your requests.

This would make a wonderful gift for your favorite Johns Hopkins alumni, employee, scholar , or Baltimore historian and art lover. Please email with any questions ... inquires answered very promptly.

Shipping from United States

Worldwide shipping offered via the USPS and FedEx. Domestic shipping via either FedEx or USPS, depending on weight and destination. Residents of Hawaii, Alaska, US territories, APO addresses and international customers should contact us for a shipping quote.

International packages weighing 4 lbs and less are shipped using USPS First Class Mail International. International packages weighing more than 4 lbs are shipped using USPS Priority Mail International or FedEx depending on weight and destination. Fabric rolls with any dimension greater than 46" cannot ship via the USPS and therefore will ship via FedEx. For larger international packages, we may use the services of 'Shipito'. If your package is shipped via First Class Mail International, we do not have any way to track it nor is it insured for loss/damage once it leaves the USA. Select the Priority Mail International shipping option if you want to be able to track it and insure it. For questions regarding any shipping matters, please contact us prior to purchase.

Many countries charge import taxes for items coming into the country. These fees are the sole responsibility of the customer and Libby's fabric has no control over them.

All other Returns accepted within 7 days of receipt. No refunds for shipping unless item is not as described. Fabric orders are custom cut by our shipping department. Therefore a small portion of shipping charges go toward paying their wages. Also, fabric orders that ship on a roll are usually too long to travel on FedEx or USPS conveyor belts. Therefore they must move through the shipping facilities BY HAND which incurs an additional (and fairly substantial) handling fee from the courier.

If you do not see the required yardage, please contact me. I am happy to fill custom orders when available. Have additional questions? Please call (706) 949-0064.
